Welcome 2023!

Christy’s Corner!   Good riddance to 2022!  2022 was one of the most difficult and challenging years of my life and I don’t know about you, but I am glad to see it in the rear-view mirror.  If opening the retail side of Cottage Grove Quilt Company just weeks before a global pandemic was not hard enough, this year has been the most challenging.  Just like everyone else, we too have been hit hard with the effects of inflation.  But as we turn the page on a new year, I look forward with hope and excitement that 2023 is going...

Welcome October

Hello October! This is one of my favorite times of the year.  I absolutely love when the days get shorter; the nights and mornings are cool and crisp; and the as you walk the crunch of leaves are underneath your feet.  All my favorite things to do seem to be at this time of year! Let’s talk about what does planning for success mean in our lives personally, professionally, and quilty.  Recently, I have started taking a more active approach in taking care of my body.  I have fought the battle of the bulge since my teenage years.  As a youth, I would get a little pudgy, lose the weight and was good till life stresses hit me hard.  Then I would crumble...

Christy's Corner: Color Play

Happy Monday my quilty friends! This morning I wanted to talk to you about color play.  This past weekend I was working on a 3-yard quilt sample out of our brand new Halloween Fabric.  Our idea was to pair this fun fabric with our luscious chocolate fabric.  Great idea - all chocolate, what could be better - right?   As I started putting together this fun project, it felt dark and lost.  The orange is Halloween Orange; pairing with the black background Hershey fabric then adding the background of chocolate it was too dark.  Then I started to ask questions, am...
